Annie Lawson is a bestselling Australian author with a sharp wit and a loyal following. As she prepared to release her second book, Stoic in Love, she needed a website that could grow with her—a digital home that was clean, clear, and easy to update, while still carrying the warmth and nuance of her writing.
I led the project from initial strategy through to launch, beginning with a focus on user experience. The goal was to create an intuitive, distraction-free layout that would allow readers to explore her work and easily purchase her books. Clear calls-to-action and thoughtfully placed content guide visitors through the site, whether they’re longtime fans or discovering Annie’s writing for the first time.
Behind the scenes, I implemented custom code for a responsive layout and subtle enhancements that bring polish without fuss. Strong foundational SEO ensures the site is discoverable, while performance optimisations keep it fast and smooth across all devices.
Annie also wanted a place to share her thoughts and musings in between books. To support that, I integrated a Substack newsletter, complete with custom styling to match the rest of the site and make it feel seamless. It’s a simple yet powerful platform that gives her full control over her content and audience connection.
Like many authors, Annie had a full plate during the build, so the project unfolded at a relaxed pace. This gave us time to refine the details and create something that felt right for her—not rushed, but intentional.
The end result is a calm, confident space that reflects Annie’s voice and provides a strong foundation for future growth.
