Selected by DesignRush - Best Colourful Web Designs

I'm thrilled to share a significant milestone in my business - my website for Julia Levitina has been recognised among the best colourful web designs in a prestigious article by DesignRush!

I received an email late last year from the wonderful DesignRush team that my website for Julia was to be selected among The Best Colorful Web Designs, looking at website trends, in an upcoming article.

To say I was excited is an understatement!

This acknowledgment in this article is a validation of my work, yes, but also for me it's also about the celebration of creativity, and the boundless possibilities of web design. I hope it doesn’t sound too twee to say that each website I build becomes a canvas for expression and exploring new aesthetics … I bloody love it.

Embracing the Avant-Garde

As a web designer, I find inspiration from lots of places. When Julia sent me images of constructivism art I just about fizzed with excitement!

When conceptualising Julia’s website, I wanted to create more than just an online platform; I aimed to craft a visual experience that resonates with users. Drawing from the principles of Constructivism - bold shapes, dynamic compositions, and a vibrant colour palette.

Below are examples I was looking at while working on Julia’s Site.

Graphic Design poster: Deep blue and white cascading circles, saturn, and a mans face (which is green)

Film Poster: a journey to mars designed by Nikolai Prusakov and Grigori Borisov

Constructivism is an early twentieth-century art movement aimed to reflect modern industrial society of the early 1900s and urban space. Constructivists were in favour of art for propaganda and social purposes, and were associated with Soviet socialism, the Bolsheviks and the Russian avant-garde. Constructivist art had a great effect on modern art movements of the 20th century, influencing major trends such as Bauhaus.

A Symphony of Colour

Colour isn’t just a visual element but can be a powerful tool for storytelling and expression. Each hue is carefully selected - every colour choice on Julia’s website serves a purpose in hopes of evoking emotion.

Dynamic Design

One of the most exciting aspects of web design is the freedom to experiment with layout and composition. With Julia’s website, I embraced this freedom wholeheartedly, rejecting rigid grid structures in favour of fluid, dynamic arrangements. I aimed to create an experience that feels organic and intuitive but that is also bold.

Where Minimalism Meets Maximalism

Finding the perfect balance between minimalism and maximalism is an ongoing creative endeavour. With Julia’s website, I sought to strike that delicate balance - sleek and sophisticated yet bold and daring. Clean lines and minimalist aesthetics provide a canvas for vibrant colours and playful elements to shine, creating a digital experience that is both visually stunning, engaging and most importantly, starts to tell the user about Julia and her book, The Girl from Moscow.

Being included in the article celebrating the best colourful web designs is a moment of immense pride for me. I love my job and am buzzing that my website sits amongst other creative designs in this article.

Here's to creativity, fun with building, and the transformative power of web design!
