Elizabeth Dunn came to me as a debut author with a clear and confident vision: she was releasing her first novel and needed an online presence, but without social media. The website needed to do the work of connection, discovery, and sales all in one place.
Her book explores Lucifer falling in love, so the site needed a distinctly moody, slightly spooky and aesthetic. Atmospheric without being overwhelming. One of the biggest creative constraints was that Elizabeth didn’t want the homepage to scroll at all. Everything needed to be immediately visible, intentional, and impactful.
I handled the full strategy and build, creating a site that functions as a central hub for Elizabeth’s work. The website introduces her novel, supports book sales, grows her newsletter, and gives readers a place to return to as future books are released. We also set up a blog and SEO foundations to support long-term growth, all without relying on social platforms.
From a design perspective, this project was a joy to work on. The theme lent itself beautifully to creative copy and visual storytelling, and Elizabeth’s striking sigil became a key design feature throughout the site. The result is a bold but elegant author platform that feels completely true to her voice and her story.
Working with Elizabeth was genuinely wonderful. She is thoughtful, hardworking, and deeply invested in her writing, and she brought warmth and humour to every stage of the process. During the build, I unexpectedly had to have my appendix removed, and her kindness and patience during that time meant more to me than she’ll ever know.
This site is proof that you don’t need to be everywhere online; you just need one space that truly feels like you.
